The Amphibious Interstellar Assault Transport/infantry, usually referred to as the AIAT/i, is the predecessor of the LAAT gunships, produced over three decades before the Battle of Geonosis. Unlike the LAAT's, the AIAT/i is a gunship with interstellar range, able to travel from planet to planet. It was meant to replace the aging Meteor-class Q-Carrier.

The AIAT/i is 31.5 meters long, 12.5 meters high, and has a 30-meter wingspan. It can carry either 350 cubic meters of cargo or else 50 troops, 1 repulsorlift assault vehicle, 4 speeder bikes, and 1 IM-6 medical droid. It has a number of weapons and was used by the Republic Judicial Forces as a troop transport, capable of landing on water.

Cadden Blackthorne, as Mandalore, managed to get his hands on several of these craft and, with some retrofitting, turn them into formidable Mandalorian war craft.
