The Systems Alliance always had an issue with providing a large enough fighter support for their fleets. This was a issue that was made painfully apparent at the Battle of Mon Calamari when they didn't have enough of a fighter screen to hold off the Charon hordes and defend the Colony Laser better.
But even long before that battle plans and projects were already well underway to produce the Armd Fleet Carrier. Co-developed by the Anari and Kadian ship yards the ship shares a flawless combination of both design philosophies. The Vessel is sturdy despite being largely hollow. Its modular design allows for quick construction much like all the other Kadian ship designs. The basic frame is shared with the Deadelus-Class Assault Lander.
The vessel is capable of long range missions without a Jupitris Fleet Tender. While the ship itself wouldn't be much in a stand up fight, its capable of using its many squadrons of fighter craft and support ships to carry out missions.
Armd fleet carriers are capable of maintaining and repairing their fighter wings and is also equipped for recovery missions. The class of ship is also the only one that can house and maintain the new ASB-02 Poltergeist and is the First to receive the new ASF-06 Apparition.
The Vessels weapon systems only allow the ship to provide cover fight for its launching ships or support for larger ships. The carriers rely on its fighters for point defense.
