Until 12 ABY, the Dread-class Battleship was the biggest warship ever designed by the Black Star Confederacy, but after the introduction of the Apocalypse-class and the Armageddon-class, the design lost this title.
The Dread-class Battleship was designed in 17 BBY. After several embarrasing defeats to various pirate groups, the Confederacy High Command ordered that a command ship be built that could defeat any vessel the pirates might send against it. The Dread-class accomplished this feat well, eradicating all pirate groups in the vicinity within 4 years through sheer firepower.
It was updated in 17 ABY, adding an antimatter reactor and a BioComp.
