The HCT-5S Hatchetman was conceived as a close-assault and city-fighting unit. To aid it in that purpose, engineers gave it a medium-caliber autocannon, useful for taking out armored vehicles most typically found in urban environemnts, and three rapid-firing pulse lasers, one in each arm and the left breast. Finally, the walker carries its most unusual feature in its right hand; a large, three-ton, reinforced durasteel hatchet. In close quarters, the weapon is deadly, crushing armor and ferrocrete through sheer kinetic energy, and making the machine a threat even when a foe might not be in the targeting arcs of its weaponry.
Armor consists of 0.5 meters of Class B ablative, enough to take several blasts from vehicle-class turbolaser cannons or a few dozen volleys from an AT-AT.
