Originally acquired by the Golden Otop (a pro-Imperial faction on Chalacta), the Liberty began its life as the Oppression. It served mainly as a system defence vessel alongside the Dreadnaught Hidden Warrior, and protected the few Otop assets in the Chalacta system from pirates.
When the New Republic freed Chalacta from Imperial oppression, the corvette was hidden away in the Chamacta system, until the Golden Otop took power on Chalacta. It was then moved to the Chalacta system to guard it until the Empire could retake it.
In the first naval engagement between Otop forces and the Brotherhood of the Twilight, the Oppression and the Hidden Warrior was both defeated and captured by the Brotherhood forces. The corvette was renamed Liberty and added to the Brotherhood fleet.
