The newest capital ship design of Mon Calamari Shipyards, the MC55 Eloquent-class Star Frigate is much faster than its companions. The increase in the Star Frigate's speed compromises the number of weapons available for use. The wings of the Star Frigate are more apparent and provide the sense of a speedy flight. The frigate is useful in hit-and-run attacks combined with A-wing starfighters. The increase in speed also compromises the number of starfighter squadrons it can carry.
In 18 ABY, Mon Calamari Shipyards redesigned the interior of the vessel, working to make it even more deadly when it came to hit and run attacks. The reactor was updated, as well as the engines. Cargo space was sacrificed in favor of additional power sources for advanced engines and shielding. Additional weapons were added, especially ion cannon batteries, for use in disabling various ships during hit and run attacks.
