The Overlord-class Dropship is a larger version of the standard Union-class Dropship. Designed for both planetary landings into a combat zone and precision tactical orbital drops, it is both well-armored and armed. The ship can carry a full cluster of battlewalkers or tanks and over four hundred armored infantrymen, plus support personnel. In lieu of the walkers and armored infantry, the ship can carry a full battalion of mechanized infantry.

The Overlord-class also features MMA-designed ablative armor in addition to standard armor plate. The ship carries a meter of superdense ablative material, allowing the ship to weather considerable damage before sustaining hull breach and giving damage control parties extra time to restore shield generators. The density and thickness of the armor can withstand several turbolaser hits before burning away to reveal more standard armor plate underneath.

As with all MMA-produced combat vessels, the ship features the innovative harjel repair system, a set of backup shields rated at one-third the power of the ship's standard shields, and the new PDS in addition to the ship's standard weaponry and defenses.
