The RFL-5M Rifleman was designed to be a long-range fire-support platform and anti-aircraft machine. It serves those purposes well. Designers gave it an augmented sensor suite, adding components from starfighter sensors and targeting systems in order to give it an edge in tracking fast-moving airspeeders. As fitting its support role, most of the weapons are longer ranged. However, since it is a support machine, it carries lighter armor one would expect a walker of its class to carry. Regardless, when used in its primary purpose, the Rifleman is quite deadly.
Weaponry consists of two heavy laser cannons and a pair of medium autocannons mounted in the arms. These autocannons have the ability to fire cluster rounds, which fragment into smaller submunitions, much like an old-fashiond shotgun, greatly increasing the targeting potential against aircraft. Two medium blaster cannons are mounted in the torso as backup weapons.
Armor consists of 0.5 meters of Class B ablative, enough to take a few shots from vehicle-class turbolaser cannons or a several volleys from an AT-AT.
