The Ra-class Scout Fighter was a fast reconnaissance vessel used by the Black Star Confederacy. The ships were designed for speed - nothing else. It had weak shields, a weak hull and weak attack. Its speed, however, exceeded anything ever built by the Black Star Confederacy. The only vessels known to be faster were the Kartanin Xentryl Scouts.

The Ra carried advanced sensors to easily detect movements, lifeforms and minerals. They also sported an advanced ECM system, which rendered the fighter virtually invisible to sensors. Its lack of a hyperdrive prevented long range missions.

In 17 ABY, it was upgraded with an antimatter reactor and a BioComp optimized for exploration.
