The S.H.I.E.L.D. Advanced Research and Design organization is a division of S.H.I.E.L.D. It is tasked with doing research and development on a number of different technologies and designs. Working in hand with Fantastic Research Inc., the organization is a collection of some of the most brilliant minds that the planet earth has to offer. They have come up with a number of different breakthroughs in a variety of fields. Many scientists utilize S.H.I.E.L.D. funding for their own research, while also working with the organization.

The division offers internships and grants to up and coming scientists, in order to make sure that the next batch of researchers are up to the task of helping the world advance and progress.
