One of the species conquered by the Isen Star Empire under the reign of Emperor Xal Shun, the Saar-melaa resisted only briefly. They determined that their interests would best be served by joining the ISE wholeheartedly and learning its technology from within. Prior to first contact with the ISE invaders, the Saar-melaa had built an industrial but pre-spaceflight civilization, occasionally fighting off Ebruchi pirates.
Eventually, the Saar-melaa achieved a critical place in Shun's hierarchy. Many of their species worked to coordinate logistics for the ISE's political and military machine. Later, many more would work for the Bandit Kingdoms and then the Jade Empire in similar capacities.
Cold, logical and devoid of humour, the Saar-melaa can be found all throughout the Jade Empire, but especially the Isen and Outreach Sectors or any worlds with higher gravity than normal; their homeworld boasts 1.32 standard gravities.
