The Thunderstorm was one of two Nova-class Modular Cruisers delivered to Draconis Incorporated as part of their contract with the Tenabrium Shipyard Array. Originally, it was configured wholly with space combat in mind - hence the ship's name. However, the TSA contract was cancelled when the yards were bought out by another party, and since Draconis could not afford another capital-class starship at the time, it was temporarily retired. The contract for the Laro Order however posed the challenge of getting a large amount of heavy equipment around several star systems, and thus a new purpose could be found for the former battleship. With the aid of HKD, the Thunderstorm was reconfigured into a mobile mining and construction platform, it's specific modular setup varying depending on its precise mission. When not actively employed for a large scale construction effort, Draconis makes heavy use of their investment in asteroid mining and rare gas collection, thus taking great advantage of the initially costly modifications. Presently, the companys engineering department is evaluating a plan of adding more advanced manufacturing modules to the ship.
It is commanded by Captain Jessica Artegal, who has been assigned to her post while the ship was still tasked with defense and escort duties. A former officer of the Rebel Alliance, she is quickly growing restless with her uneventful assignment, and the company is searching for a replacement.
